Sovereignty 2024 | The Greater Than [>] Campaign
Logo Design, Ad Campaign, Print Media
Project Overview
In the polarized landscape of the 2024 general election, the “Sovereignty” initiative was established to deliver a unifying, non-partisan message to voters, candidates, and citizens. The mission was to remind a divided audience that political power, regardless of election results, is ultimately subject to a heavenly authority. I was tasked with creating a concept and visual identity that prioritized divine governance over political systems, illustrating that neither major political party has the final word on history.
My Role: Brand Strategy, Multi-Concept Identity Design, Art Direction, Ad Campaign & Merchandise Production.
The Challenge: Designing Beyond Partisanship
The objective was to design a conceptual mark that did not endorse any particular party but rather positioned “Heavenly Governance” as the ultimate reality. The branding had to be sophisticated enough to trigger political recognition (Elephant and Donkey) while maintaining an elegant, reverent institutional tone.
The central challenge was to convey this profound message strictly through conceptual icons and mathematics, avoiding words or slogans that could be perceived as biased.
The Strategy: The Hierarchy of Power
The campaign strategy was derived from a single theological premise: Political power is subordinate to a higher throne. I created a conceptual visual code built around a clear hierarchy:
1. The Lion of Sovereignty: A purple profile of a lion wearing a royal crown, serving as the biblical symbolic standard for the eternal King who rules over all nations (The Lion of the Tribe of Judah).
2. The Subordinate Parties: The traditional elephant and donkey icons, depicted not as competing symbols, but as subordinate visual elements. They are visually distinct but placed after the King.
3. The Mathematical Anchor: The main differentiator. I utilized the universal symbol for “Greater Than” [>] as the central conceptual bridge. This operation mathematically proves the hierarchy, declaring that the Sovereign King rules over both political systems.
Execution & Creative Output
Conceptual Logos & Scripture Anchors
• The Hierarchical Code: The primary logo presents the Purple Lion (Authority) > The Elephant and Donkey (Partisan Systems).
• The Purple Color: In ancient biblical times it represent the pigment of choice for those of noble or royal birth or those who were high-level officials, in other words the color of royalty.
• The Full Scriptural Context: The scriptural reference, “Daniel 2:20–21”, is integrated below the mark, grounding the campaign in the source text that defines the changing of times, seasons, and political rule.
• Systemic Flexibility: I developed a series of reversible and adaptable conceptual codes. The monochromatic black-on-white versions and the inverted “white-out” marks prove that the hierarchy remains clear and authoritative regardless of background or physical application.
Merchandise & Application
• Multi-Directional Identity: The black-on-white hierarchical code demonstrates its adaptability for corporate and official contexts, ensuring the message can be used as a simple and elegant “standard” on diverse platforms.
• Coded Utility: I developed a line of high-contrast t-shirts. The full code (King > Elephant Donkey + Scripture) serves as a dynamic, wordless statement.
• The Full Text Solution (on t-shirts): The front displays the simple hierarchical code. The back of the t-shirt features the full, legible scripture text in a clean serif: “BLESSED BE THE NAME OF GOD FOREVER AND EVER… HE CHANGES TIMES AND SEASONS; HE REMOVES KINGS AND SETS UP KINGS; HE GIVES WISDOM TO THE WISE AND KNOWLEDGE TO THOSE WHO HAVE UNDERSTANDING. DANIEL 2:20–21”. This dual application ensures the message is both encoded and fully articulated.
The Results
• Non-Partisan Authority: Successfully translated profound theological concepts into a professional, “greater than” visual identity.
• Coded Messaging: The “Lion > Parties” hierarchy provides a universal visual shorthand that triggers political recognition while instantly repositioning it as subordinate.
• Strategic Continuity: The identity’s successful transition from a massive environmental billboard to a full-scripture t-shirt proves its powerful legibility and high-stakes application.
